HISTORY OF COMPUTER
When the human race started doing some trade it felt a need for calculating device an early manual calculating device called Abacus Abacus was used more than 2000 years ago. it was used in many countries such as china and japan Blaise pascal developed the first mechanical adding machine in 1662 about 30years later in 1671, jerman mathematician developed this machine that could add subtract multiply divide and square root.
In 1833 professor charles babbage from cambridge, university England who is considered the father of modern digital computer he proposed a machine analytical engine in the next phase of development around 1890 machine that could calculate and print results Around the same period dr. harman holirath concept the punched card machine
THE MARK I COMPUTER (1937-44
the mark i computer also called automatic controlled calculator the mark i was developed by professor howard university in collaboration with international business machine corporation (I.B.M) the mark i was not an electronic computer the size of this computer was vary huge and its design was very complex it could do addition subtraction division multiplication and table reference.
THE ATANASOFF COMPUTER(1935-1942)
THE ATANASOFF COMPUTER was developed by Dr. johan vincent atanasoff a professor physics and mathematics
THE ENIAC COMPUTER (1943-1946)
THE ELECTRONIC NUMERICAL INTEGRATOR AND CALCULATOR
(ENIAC)was the first electronic computer the eniac was build at more school of electrical engineering university of pennsylvania U.S.A by a team of professor J.PRASPER eckart junior and johan w mauchley the eniac was used 19.000 vacuum tube and size about 800 square feet it could do about 300 multiplication per second
THE EDSAC COMPUTER (1947-1949)
THE ELERTORNIC DELAY STORAGE AUTOMATIC COMPUTER (EDVAC) was developed by professor maurice wilkes from cambridge university Englend
THE EDVEC COMPUTER (1946-1952)
THE ELCETRONIC DISCRATE VARIABLE AUTOMATIC COMPUTERS (EDVAC) was developed by professor J.prespereckert jr and john W.Mauchley university of pennsylania . U.S.A developed it
THE UNIVAC (1951)
tThe first UNIVERSAL AUTOMATIC COMPUTER become operational at the census bureau about a decade. General electric corporation (GEC) acquried UNIVAC in 1954. and use a computer. for commercial purpose for the first time. this computer was developed bt professor J. presper Eckart Jr and john W.machley , university Pennsylvania U.S.A
GENERATION OF COMPUTER
1st generation :- vacuum tube
2nd generation :- transistor
3rd generation :- microchip /IC (integrated circut)
4th generation :- micro processor
5th generation :- AI (Artifical intelligent)
1st GENERATION COMPUTER (1942-1946)
In first generation computer they use vaccume tube for processing the data. ENIAC was the first generation computer.
Disadvantage:-
IT was big in sise
it was the single users
its processing speed was very slow
it needed hight power
2nd GENERATION COMPUTER (1947-1963)
The second generation replace vaccume tube by transistor and using this performance was increase then the first generation computer.
Advantage:-
As compare to first generation computer ,it produced less heat.
Disadvantage:-
Frequent maintenance required cost of computer was very high.
3nd GENERATION COMPUTER (1963-1972)
In this generation replace transistor and then use micro chip or IC (integrated circut ) but highly sophticated technology.
4th GENERATION COMPUTER
In this generation or the present day computer to the present day computer belongs to the fourth generation In this generation micro chip was replace by micro processor.
5th GENERATION COMPUTER
The computer of today in spite of all their specialtis but can not perform one major job i,e thinking. The computer in such a way that can not think act upon their own intillegent without much of human instruction. Hence it is called AI (Artifical Intelligent) Read more...
CHARACTER OF COMPUTER
1. ACCURACY- computer gives very accurate result provided it is given the right instuction and data. it never does any mistake.
2. SPEED- computer makes calculating at super fast speed without any mistake. modern computer can execute about 30 million instructions in a second.
3. STORAGE- computer can store very large amount of data in very small space and any part of information can be view or edited
4. DELIGENT- computer can prfomed calculation without timing and do not any mistake due to burden. it can work with same speed from starting to end.
5.VERSATILITY-computer can utilize in any field of modern life we can use it with same efficiency in the field of business application as well as scientific application
6.VOLUME- computer can handle more volume of data a personal computer can handle the payroll calculation of more than 10,000 employee of a company.
7. CLEARNESS- A computer presents results more clear.
8.SAVING MAN POWER - An organization can be utilized his additional man power in other productive works readmore
